I cleaned up the firing pins (though they weren't dirty) and pulled the stock off as per the directions on the Savage24 forums and that mainspring plunger head thing is straight, so I don't know what else to do. :/ Maybe it's the ammo, I don't know, but I thought Remington used softer primers than Federal, so. I shot up all my 170gr Federal, went out and bought a few boxes of 170gr Remington, and that's when it started. 30-30/12 24F must weigh!īut I've been getting some light strikes on the rifle barrel lately, maybe 1-in-10. It's my very very very favorite, even though it's a heavy ol' thing. Please be kind!Ĭlick to expand. That it is! I love that gun. 30-30 24V shown-but-not-fired in the video (I was just using its scope to look at my target between shots) for example, puts a slug in the same group as the rifle at 50yd. The others I've fooled with have regulated a lot closer and more easily.

The one in the video is really bad regulation-wise. I got the idea from looking at the vertical regulation mechanism on a Baikal combo gun. On the second go-round, I got it in 2-3" at 25yd, but it's still pretty poor at 50!Īnyway, I haven't seen much information on this (reversible) Bubbafied regulation method on the web, so I figured I'd make a little video this time and share it in case any of y'all 24 aficionados have a gun that needs a little regulation to shoot good. When I first bought it, the shotgun barrel shot about 16" low at 25yd. In preparation for squirrel season, I decided to have another go at regulating my 24C. Most of the decently priced examples we can find don't shoot both barrels to the same point of impact. I apologize if this is a little off-topic for the forums, but I've seen quite a few Savage 24 shooters here, and I am a big fan of the gun myself.īut most of the good-shooting ones are are like a pot of gold and are being held onto by their current owners.
